Workshops dates for the summer
Horizons Parent Institute:
The Horizons Student Enrichment Program at The Harley School is pleased to announce the Horizons Parent Institute commencing as part of this summer’s program and continuing with seminars and trainings beyond the summer session.
True to our goal of embracing, engaging, and assisting parents in the education of their children, the Horizons Parent Institute will endeavor to provide relevant, practical, and supportive information and knowledge to the parents/guardians of program participants.
Featuring retired educator and school administrator Peggy Braitsch – recipient of the Mildred Feinbloom Award for contributions to the International Community in Rochester – the offerings will be sure to encourage and inspire participating parents. Mrs. Braitsch is a cross-cultural communications trainer with a certificate in counseling who has demonstrated a life-long commitment to the education of urban students.
The summer 2012 orientations and workshops are:
1. Monday, July 2 / 6:00pm to 7:30pm – Financial Literacy Workshop by retired bankruptcy judge – Hon. John Ninfo.
2. Monday, July 9 / 6:00pm to 7:30pm – Parent Workshop – The Importance of Literacy.
3. Monday, July 23 / 6:00pm to 7:30pm – Parent Workshop – STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Overview.
4. TBD – “Learn to Swim” for Parents
